  • Building construction began
1997
  • Tsuchiura・Tsukuba Convention Bureau established
1998
  • Revised Tsukuba Science City project
    -Establishment of 'Tsukuba International Congress Center' and accomodation
  • Settled its logo and nickname as 'EPOCHAL TSUKUBA'
  • Building construction completed
1999
  • 1st June, 'Tsukuba International Congress Center' opened
  • Acknowledged as International Convention city (Tsukuba-city, Tsuchiura-city and Kukizaki-city )
  • August, 'OKURA FRONTIER HOTEL TSUKUBA EPOCHAL' opened
2000
  • 'Science Academy of Tsukuba' established
  • Ranked the 3rd in the number of an international conference (64times) held in general (or domestic) facilities, also came in the 1st in the international conference facilities, according to the JNTO year 2000 report
2005
  • 24th August, TSUKUBA EXPRESS in service
2006
  • 1st April, 'Tsukuba Congress Center' became designated administrator
2009
  • 1st June, 10th Anniversary of 'Tsukuba International Congress Center'
2010
  • 10th Anniversary of 'Science Academy of Tsukuba'
  • 26th March, First 'Tsukuba Science Edge' and 10th August, First 'Tsukuba Science Casting Workshop' held annually as a voluntary event
2011
  • Temporary closed due to the Great East Japan Earthquake
  • Offered shelter to the victims from Fukushima, caused by the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident (about 200 people)
